INDIANS OF THE SOUTHWEST

Survey of major Indian groups of the southwestern United States: Pueblo, Navajo, Apache, Papago, Pima, River Yuman and Mountain Yuman (Yavapai, Hualapai, Havasupai). Emphasis on historical factors that have led to culture change. Development of these groups from Spanish contact to present.

A geographical exploration of the human landscape, examining aspects of culture such as language, religion, political organization and economics.

Study of relationships among literature, history, philosophy, visual arts, and performing arts from the Old Stone Age (Paleolithic) through the Middle Ages.

COMPARATIVE RELIGIONS

Credit Hours: (3)

The world's religions from East and West, both old and new. Focus on differing religious/philosophical conceptual frameworks. Non-literate and primal religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Japanese religions, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and more recent religions.

PHI 201 20030 (083120) is also taught “LIVE” on the Verde Valley Campus in Room M-212 on Tuesdays from 5:30 AM to 8:15 PM.

INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

The study of human behavior for the sociological perspective. Areas of emphasis include society, culture, social structure, social institutions, social stratification and socialization.

Classes start on Monday, August 25 and end on Thursday, December 11, 2008.

Yavapai College is located in Central Arizona and is fully accredited.

The tuition rate for three lecture hour online classes is $156.00 USD for Arizona residents and a still very reasonable $195.00 USD, i.e. approximately €125.00 (Euro) for the rest of the United States and the World.
